Ad-hoc Search

Transportation Smartbench (TSB) and Tariff Smartbench (TFSB) supports the concept of ad-hoc (or temporary) data selection when a named search requires some refinement to fulfill a specific need and you do not want to permanently update the original search.

The following operations are available while configuring search items using ad-hoc search:

  • Clear: Removes all values from all search page elements.
  • Note: This is not available on summary views.

  • Revert to Saved: Removes intermediate (ad-hoc) modifications to a search since the last use of Search and thus reverting to the search’s latest saved state. This button is displayed only on searches that have been temporarily modified through the Search operation. For example, this button will not appear on a search page accessed from the Create Optimization Request page if it was opened with no saved search.
  • Note: This is not available on summary views.

  • Search (Apply on search pages accessed from the Create Optimization Request page): Captures search criteria for the named search locally (as ad-hoc criteria) and closes the dialog box. Any open view in the results panel populated from the search is refreshed. This operation is displayed on searches associated to a currently open view in the results panel and searches displayed from Create Optimization Request.
  • Note: This is not available on summary views.

  • Save and Search (Save and Apply on search pages accessed from the Create Optimization Request page): Captures search criteria for the named search in the database and closes the dialog box. When accessed from an entity grid, any open view in the results panel populated from the search is refreshed. This button is displayed only on search pages based on a saved search belonging to the current user. For example, this button will not appear on a search page accessed from the Create Optimization Request page if it was opened with no saved search. Nor will it appear when a saved search is owned by another user..
  • Note: This option is not available for shared searches. However, a user can override the configured filter criteria and click Search.

  • Cancel: Closes the dialog box without saving. Any changes since the last Search are not saved.

To use this feature, you must first execute the search to populate a view in the Results panel. Then you can perform the following steps:

  1. Right-click the search item and click Search... or click on the results panel entity view.
  2. Make the required changes in configuring the search item.
  3. Click Search instead of Save and Search when editing your search. The updated criteria are available for the remainder of your TSB or TFSB session, or until you click Revert to Saved. Ad-hoc search criteria are not remembered across TSB or TFSB sessions. The next time you access the TSB or TFSB, the original filter criteria are presented.

Notes:

  • Search is displayed only if an entity grid is open in the results panel for this search item.
  • Revert to Saved is displayed only after a search has been modified temporarily using Search.
