Distance Transit Time Override Fields

General tab

Distance / Transit Time Engine

  • Distance Engine: This will refer to an external engine version where the Engine Type for the corresponding external engine is Distance Transit Time Engine. Mandatory. If a value is not selected, a default will usually be established based on the Country for the two shipping locations. If both addresses are in the same country, or the Distance Engine for Distance/Transit Time for both countries is the same, that distance engine will be the default. If a tariff has been defined for the Distance Transit Time Override and an override Distance Engine has been defined for the tariff, that Distance Engine will be used. Otherwise, the default will be Internal. Not editable in Update mode.

Division

  • Division: The division for the distance / transit time override. Mandatory. It can be modified by users that are not restricted to a specific division. It cannot be modified in Update mode.

Tariff Service

  • Tariff Number: Optional. When a value is specified, it must refer to a valid tariff and Service will also be required. Tariff Number and Service must refer to a valid tariff service combination. Tariff Number cannot be modified in Update mode.
  • Service: Optional. When a value is specified, it must refer to a valid master service and Tariff Number will also be required. Tariff Number and Service must refer to a valid tariff service combination. Service cannot be modified in Update mode.

Equipment/Hazardous

  • Equipment Type ID: Optional. When specified, the equipment type information, including equipment dimensions will be considered in the integrations with distance providers which support road characteristics with equipment implications. This information is used in distance and transit time requests, distance breakdown calculation requests and historic traffic requests when the information is available, thereby improving the accuracy of the computed result.
  • Number of Trailers: Optional. When specified, the number of trailers will be considered in the integrations with distance providers which support road characteristics with equipment implications. This information is used in distance and transit time requests, distance breakdown calculation requests and historic traffic requests when the information is available, thereby improving the accuracy of the computed result.
  • Hazardous Level: Optional. When specified, the hazardous level will be considered in the integrations with distance providers which support road characteristics with hazardous implications. This information is used in distance and transit time requests, distance breakdown calculation requests and historic traffic requests when the information is available, thereby improving the accuracy of the computed result.

Notes:

  • Equipment Type and Number of Trailers are both optional components. If specified, the distance transit time override definition will only match a distance/transit time call, country breakdown call, or historic traffic call which specifies the same Equipment Type or Number of Trailers. If not specified, the override will match any equipment type, or any number of trailers, unless another override is defined with matching equipment type or number of trailers.
  • Hazardous Level is an optional component. If specified, the distance transit time override definition will only match a distance/transit time call, country breakdown call, or historic traffic call which specifies the same hazardous level. If not specified, the override will match any hazardous level unless another override is defined with matching hazardous level.

Details

Note: This section is presented when the "Distinct Distances and Transit Times by Direction" in the global settings is False.

  • Distance: The distance between the two locations. Maintained in the data base in system Distance UOM and presented on the Properties page in user's Distance UOM. Editable in Update mode. A default value can be established by triggering the Retrieve operation which will invoke a request for the distance and transit time from the applicable Distance Engine. Retrieve performed on the General tab will also impact the values on the Country Breakdown tab. Distance must be greater than zero (that is, at least .1 of a mile or kilometer). If Country Breakdown exists, distance will always be read-only and will contain the sum of the distances for the individual breakdown legs.
  • Transit Time: The transit time between the two locations. Maintained in hours and portions thereof. Editable in Update mode. A default value can be established by triggering the Retrieve operation which will invoke a request for the distance and transit time from the applicable Distance Engine. Retrieve performed on the General tab will also impact the values on Country Breakdown tab. Transit time must be greater than zero (that is, at least 0.01 of an hour). If Country Breakdown exists, transit time will always be read-only and will contain the sum of the transit times for the individual breakdown legs.
  • Note: The transit time values will be rounded to the nearest minute when stored in the database.

Location 1 to 2 Details and Location 2 to 1 Details

Note: The Location 1 to 2 Details and Location 2 to 1 Details sections are presented when the "Distinct Distances and Transit Times by Direction" in the global settings is True.

  • Overrides Active: When checked, this indicates that overrides are active between Location 1 and Location 2 (Location 1 to 2 Details section) or between Location 2 and Location 1 (Location 2 to 1 Details section). The Distance and Transit Time in the section will be editable only when this check box is enabled. At least one of the check boxes in these two sections must be selected.
  • Breakdown Exist: Specifies if country breakdown exists between Location 1 and Location 2 (Location 1 to 2 Details section) or between Location 2 and Location 1 (Location 2 to 1 Details section).
  • Distance: Same as described in the Details section above.
  • Transit Time: Same as described in the Details section above.

Country Breakdown tab

This tab displays the distance/transit time breakdown overrides in editable grids. The breakdown represents the distance and transit time spent in the origin and destination countries, as well as any country in between in which travel occurs. The breakdown is in order from origin to destination. In North America, the breakdown is by state/province instead of Country.

If bidirectional is enabled in Global Setting, then this tab can display two editable grids. The number of grids presented will depend on the ‘Override Active’ flag on each direction.

  • If ‘Override Active’ is checked for the direction from Location 1 to Location 2, then breakdown grid for location 1 to 2 will be presented. All breakdowns displayed or created in this grid will have Return direction equal to False.
  • If ‘Override Active’ is checked for the direction from Location 2 to Location 1, then breakdown grid for location 2 to 1 will be presented. All breakdowns displayed or created in this grid will have Return direction equal to True.

If both ‘Override Active’ are checked, then both grids will be presented.

If bidirectional is disabled in Global Setting or navigated from pages with predetermined direction, for example, Distance/Transit Times for Load from Load Processing, then only one editable grid will be presented for the given from/to locations. All breakdown displayed or created in this grid will have Forward direction (i.e. from Location 1 to Location 2).

The Equipment/Hazardous section displays the Equipment Type ID, Number of Trailers, Hazardous Level information defined on the General tab of the Distance/Transit Time Overrides page.

Location 1 to 2 Details and Location 2 to 1 Details

Note: The Location 2 to 1 Details section is presented when the "Distinct Distances and Transit Times by Direction" in the global settings is True.

  • Country: Specifies the name of the country. Allows you to select the country.
  • State/Province: Specifies the name of the state or province. This value is allowed only if the country is Canada, USA or Mexico.
Retrieve performed on the Country Breakdown tab will also impact the values on General tab. Distance must be greater than zero (that is, at least .1 of a mile or kilometer).
  • Transit Time: The transit time between the two locations. Maintained in hours and portions thereof. Editable in Update mode. A default value can be established by triggering the Retrieve operation which will invoke a request for the distance and transit time from the applicable Distance Engine. Retrieve performed on the Country Breakdown tab will also impact the values on General tab. Transit time must be greater than zero (that is, at least 0.01 of an hour).
  • Note: The transit time values will be rounded to the nearest minute when stored in the database.

Traffic Breakdown tab

This tab displays the transit time values for each day of week and time of day in editable grids, which you can override based on your business need. This information can be used in optimization and RRS calls by the scheduling process, if configured to be used in Transportation Planner. If configured, and the departure time from a location has been computed by scheduling, the transit time for the day of week and time of day will be used.

If bidirectional is enabled in Global Setting, then this tab displays two editable grids. The number of grids presented will depend on the ‘Override Active’ flag on each direction.

  • If ‘Override Active’ is selected for the direction from Location 1 to Location 2, then breakdown grid for location 1 to 2 will be presented. All breakdown displayed or created in this grid will have Return direction equal to False.
  • If ‘Override Active’ is selected for the direction from Location 2 to Location 1, then breakdown grid for location 2 to 1 will be presented. All breakdown displayed or created in this grid will have Return direction equal to True.

If both ‘Override Active’ are selected, then both grids will be presented.

Breakdowns

Location 1 to 2 Details and Location 2 to 1 Details

Note: The Location 2 to 1 Details section is presented when the Distinct Distances and Transit Times by Direction in the global settings is True.

This grid allows you to set the transit time overrides between the two locations for each Time Slot (time of day) against the day of the week. Maintained in hours and editable in Update mode. Each row will represent a fifteen-minute increment starting at “00:00” and ending at “23:45”.

Operations:
  • Set Defaults: Copies the Transit Time override value from the General tab to all the cells in the grid. You may then edit transit times in the grid cells which are an exception to the general transit time. When the bidirectional flag is true, Set Defaults operation auto-populates both Location 1/Location 2 and Location 2/Location 1 breakdown grids based on the appropriate Transit Times.
  • Retrieve: Populates all cells with the traffic based transit times acquired from the distance provider. From the General tab, the distance provider, origin location, destination location, equipment type, hazardous level, and number of trailers information is used to retrieve traffic data. When the bidirectional flag is true, the Retrieve operation auto-populates both Location 1/Location 2 and Location 2/Location 1 breakdown grids. Retrieve performed on the Traffic Breakdown tab will not have any impact on the General and Country Breakdown tabs.
  • Note: This operation is not supported for distance providers that do not support traffic.

  • Cancel: Cancels the transaction and returns the user to the List page.
  • Submit: Creates or updates the DTTO entry in the distance cache table, and returns the user to the List page. During create, submit will store the grid data in the breakdown strings. During update, submit updates from grid data into the breakdown strings.
