Fuel Surcharges – Weekly Updates

On a weekly basis, the user will supply the Department of Energy (DOE) Fuel Prices and Gulf Coast Crude Oil Spot Price for the upcoming week, as required.

Upon pressing Submit, the Fuel Price will be used to compute a new Fuel Surcharge Rate for each associated Fuel Surcharge Contract. The newly computed Fuel Surcharge Rate will then be applied as a date specific rate to each of the Tariff Charges linked to the Fuel Surcharge Contract (Equivalent Tariff Charges).

For example:

The user indicates that the National DOE Fuel Price for the week of 13-JAN-2004 through 19-JAN-2004 is $1.30 / gallon.

When user presses Submit:

  • Transportation Manager will identify the Fuel Surcharge Contracts associated with this Fuel Price (National DOE).
  • For each Fuel Surcharge Contract, the effective rate for the week will be determined based on the associated rate structure.
  • The effective rate determined in this manner will be used to establish a new date specific rate (13-JAN-2004 through 19-JAN-2004) for each Equivalent Tariff Charge identified by the Fuel Surcharge Contract.
