Service Restrictions (Employee)
This page allows you to associate one or more services to the selected asset. When no service is defined on this page, the asset can be assigned to loads or trips using any service.
When services are defined with Restriction Type as Included, the asset can be assigned to loads or trips that specify these services only. When services are defined with Restriction Type as Excluded, the asset cannot be assigned to loads or trips using any of these services.
Override Control allows you to categorize all asset service restrictions as soft constraint or hard constraint. Authorized users can override a soft constraint during load or trip asset assignment. A hard constraint can never be overridden.
Notes:
- The Restriction Type is strictly enforced when assigning assets to skeleton routes (that is, Override Control setting is ignored).
-
The services provided in UI pulldowns are based on the services defined for the asset’s carrier ID; if service restrictions must be applied to assets marked as Shared.
Sample Scenario:
A carrier offers 3 services: STL for single asset truckload, TTL for team asset truckload and LTL for single driver less-than-truckload.
When no service restriction is defined, a driver type asset can be assigned to loads or trips with any service offered by the asset’s carrier; in this case, STL, TTL or LTL.
When "LTL" service is defined with Restriction Type as Included and Override Control as Overrideable by Authorized Users, the asset can be assigned to LTL loads or trips only. In some cases, when there is a driver shortage for single driver type asset truckload loads, an authorized user can assign this driver type asset to an STL load and override the "Service Violation". Or, when a driver type asset is needed to form a team to take a TTL load, an authorized user can assign this asset to a TTL load and override the "Service Violation".
When "LTL" service is defined with Restriction Type as Included and Override Control as No Override, the asset can only be assigned to LTL loads or trips, but not STL or TTL loads or trips (no exceptions and no ability to override the violation).
When "LTL" service is defined with Restriction Type as Excluded and Override Control as Overrideable by Authorized Users, the asset by default can take STL and TTL loads only. In some cases, when there is a driver type asset shortage for LTL loads, an authorized user can still assign this asset to an LTL load and override the "Service Violation".
When "LTL" service is defined with Restriction Type as Excluded and Override Control as No Override for an asset, this asset can only be assigned to STL and TTL loads or trips, but can never take LTL loads or trips (no exceptions and no ability to override the violation).
