List of Geographical Areas for Zone (Employee)

This list displays the geographical areas for a zone. A zone defines a geographic or political region.

You can specify the geographical location of a zone using any of the following:

  • Shipping locations
  • Exact zip/postal codes
  • Zip/postal code ranges
  • Distance range
  • City (or cities)
  • States/provinces
  • Entire country

Note: Click Associate Location to associate a shipping location with the current zone. This adds a new location based geographical area to the zone.

List

By default, the list of geographical areas for a zone is sorted in ascending order by the Country field, States/Provinces field, then the City field , and then the From Zip/Postal Code field.

Notes:

  • Location-based geographical areas are not supported for zone groups such as Time Zones , Daylight Saving Zones , Business Hours Zones , G/L Regions or Tax Zones.
  • For generic zones, you can search geographical areas by location.

For information on icons and functionalities available on the list pages, see Web Interface lists.

Properties

The Properties of geographical areas of a zone consists of a single screen displaying the following details:

  • Information related to the zone and the shipping location for a location based geographical area
  • Information related to the zone and the geographical area for other geographical areas

Individual geographical areas can be defined using any of the following information:

  • Country
  • State
  • City
  • Distance
  • Range
  • Exact zip/postal code
  • Zip/postal code range

The following information is updated when you select location type and location code for a location-based geographical area:

  • Address
  • Additional information (such as latitude and longitude)

Notes:

  • A location-based geographical area has the highest level of precision, higher than that of a zip or postal code.
  • The routing process compares the code and type of a location-based geographical area with those of a shipping location. It does not consider the shipping location’s address or address overrides on transactional entities using the shipping location.

When creating a new zone or a geo-area for an existing zone, the Country and State/Province values, if defined at the zone header level, are established as a default for the new geo-area.
