List of Users (Employee)
The List of Users contains a user profile for each recognized user of the system. These user profiles serve a number of purposes:
Identification
Each user is uniquely identified on the system, allowing you to establish ownership for certain procedures.
For example: When a user selects a load during load confirmation, the load will be unavailable to other users until the point where the user formally concludes the confirmation process.
Authority
The system uses authority levels to determine each user’s ability to perform various system functions.
Permissions/Requirements
You can restrict users to be able to work only with operational and set-up entities for a specific division, a given logistics group, or both.
Access to modules, links within modules and operations on lists is controlled based on the User Group to which the User is assigned.
User Defaults
The system offers default values for some fields during data entry. You can set up some of these default values as individual preferences on each user’s profile. Defaults established on the user profile will override those set up at the system level.
Locale
The combination of Language and Country in the user's profile will be used to establish locale. This controls presentation for such things as date/time formats and decimal representation.
List
By default, the List of Users is sorted in ascending order by User ID.
For information on icons and functionalities available on the list pages, see Web Interface lists.
Properties
The main properties for a User profile are defined on a single page using two tabs.
See "Duplicate user profiles" for duplication strategy for related sub-entities.
See "User Profile fields".
Note: The User Profile is one of the few setup entities in Transportation Manager where lower case characters can be defined for the entity identifier.
Additional Operations
- User - Printer Defaults (Employee)
- A/P Versions (Employee)
- A/R Versions (Employee)
- Update Password (Employee)
- Reset Password: This operation will reset the User Profile with the default password. If Allow Password Equal to User ID in Global Settings is False, user will have to update his password before he can log into TM.
- Deactivate: User Profiles in Inactive status cannot log into TM.
- Activate: Reactivates an Inactive user.
- Exempt Password: Will set the User Profile to be exempt from having to change his password. Exempt users are required to have a password, but will not be required to change it. This feature would typically be used for User Profiles used for integration.
- Expire Password: This operation will force user to change his password before he can log into TM, unless the Password Change Exempt is True for the user. This will only be meaningful when Enable Password Expiration is selected in the Global Settings.
- Require Password: Will set the User Profile so that the user is no longer exempt from having to change his password.
Note: A User Profile cannot be deleted when there is one or more active Optimization Request created by this user. An active request would be in Wait, Processing or Hold status.
