Rate Calculator – Unit of Measure and Exchange

Fields in this section can be used to qualify various input and output values used by Rate Calculator.

  • Unit of Measure Type: Metric or Imperial.
  • Distance: Must be Miles if Unit of Measure Type is Imperial and Kilometers if Metric. Distance Unit of Measure (UOM) will qualify the distances supplied on the More Rating Units and Options tab of the Rate Calculator (Input) page. All distances presented on the various pages of the Rate Calculator or Rate Quotations functions will be presented in this unit of measure.
  • Weight: Can be Pounds or Tons if Unit of Measure Type is Imperial. Can be Kilograms or Metric Tons if Unit of Measure Type is Metric. Weight UOM will qualify the weights supplied on the Main tab of the Rate Calculator (Input) page and the Weight by Freight Class page. All weights presented on the various pages of the Rate Calculator or Rate Quotations functions will be presented in this unit of measure.
  • Length: Can be Inches or Feet if Unit of Measure Type is Imperial. Must be Meters if Metric. Value controls both linear and cubic dimensions.
  • For example: If Length UOM is Feet, Volume UOM will be Cubic Feet. Length UOM will qualify the Laden Length defined on the Main tab of the Rate Calculator (Input) page. The corresponding cubic UOM will qualify Volume on the Main tab. All lengths and volumes presented on the various pages of the Rate Calculator or Rate Quotations functions will be presented in linear or cubic versions of this unit of measure.

  • Currency: Can be any Currency configured in Transportation Manager. Currency will qualify the Order Value and Declared Value specified on the Main tab of the Rate Calculator (Input) page. All amounts presented in Default Currency on the various pages of the Rate Calculator or Rate Quotations functions will be presented in this currency. Note that those lists also allow amounts to be presented in Base Currency for the System, Tariff Rating Currency and Tariff Payment Currency.
