Supported delivery schedules partners

The scheduling process used by routing/rating/scheduling (RR&S) and optimization can optionally use delivery schedules that are not defined in Transportation Manager.

Configuration for external delivery schedules uses the same infrastructure as external rating engines. When the Scheduling Method for a Tariff Service is "External Delivery Schedule", the tariff service will be cross-referenced to an External Engine Version ID where the Engine Type for the corresponding external engine is "Delivery Schedule".

The Scheduling Method for a tariff service cannot be "External Delivery Schedule" for customer specific tariffs or either type of planning tariff. Since a carrier SCAC is required to access the external delivery schedule engine and these tariffs do not refer to a carrier, they are incompatible with external delivery schedules.

The Number of Transit Days will be retrieved from the external source. If a valid value is not returned for Number of Transit Days, then that route will fail RR&S. Since pickup and delivery windows are not integrated, holidays and weekends are not included in the Number of Transit Days returned. Scheduling will compute the pickup and delivery windows considering the intersection of:

  • Carrier Tariff Service's business hours/holidays/weekends
  • Shipping location business hours/holidays/weekends
  • Shipment pickup/delivery windows
  • Number of Transit Days

Utilization of external delivery schedules may require a separate license agreement with the schedule provider.

External delivery schedules cannot be used in conjunction with trips or multi-stop loads.

SMC3 Carrier Connect integration

Integration to transit time information is provided by SMC3 CarrierConnect and CarrierConnectXL. This has been incorporated into the Transportation Planner routing / rating engine used by Transportation Manager.

The SMC3 integration supports both CarrierConnect and CarrierConnectXL, using either a direct connection from the Transportation Planner Shipment Consolidation Engine or indirectly through the External Rating Server.

When the Scheduling Mode for a tariff service is "External Delivery Schedule", the specified External Delivery Schedule Engine Version and the applicable carrier SCAC will be used to access CarrierConnect/CarrierConnectXL and retrieve data for scheduling.

Accessing CarrierConnect/CarrierConnectXL is very similar to accessing RateWare since these two engines are both from SMC3. The mappings are a subset of the LTL mappings, with the addition of Carrier SCAC.

project44

Integration to transit time information is provided by project44. This has been incorporated into the Blue Yonder External Rating Server, which is part of Transportation Planner. This is used in optimizations and in routing, rating and scheduling calls from Transportation Manager.

Transit time information is retrieved at the same time as rate information is retrieved. Therefore the mappings for transit time retrieval are equivalent to the mappings for LTL and VLTL rating.
