Tax Code fields

Tax Code

  • Tax Code: Tax Code is the key to the Tax Codes table. It is user-definable and mandatory. Tax Code is not editable in Update mode. Tax Code is referenced when defining all of the following:
    • Tax Rates
    • Tax G/L Account Numbers
    • Tax Registration Numbers
  • Tax Code Description: User maintainable description. It is mandatory.
  • Tax Level: Refers to the Tax Levels Domain table. It is mandatory. Tax level indicates whether the Tax Code defines a Country, State or Local Tax. When associating zones with Tax Rates for the Tax Code, there will be no validation comparing Tax Level to the composition of the designated zones. Currently, the Transportation Manager tax module only supports value added tax as computed within the European Union (EU). When a tax type is configured for the EU, it should be configured with a level of Country.
  • Tax Type: Refers to the Tax Types Domain table. It is mandatory. Currently, the Transportation Manager tax module only supports one tax type: value added tax as computed within the European Union (EU).
  • Charge ID: Must refer to a Master Condition where the Condition is Tax is True. Cannot refer to a Condition that is referenced by another Tax Code entry.
  • A/R Relationship: Refers to the A/R Relationships Domain table. It is mandatory. The setting of this flag will depend on the whether the company using Transportation Manager classifies themselves as providing Transportation or a Service (brokering transportation). Options are A/R Service or A/R Transportation. This choice will affect EU value added tax charge rules.
    • Transportation Provider: The A/R Relationship flag should be set to the A/R Transportation when the company using Transportation Manager is providing transportation. In this case, EU value added tax is levied at the rate for the country where the shipment originates.
    • Service Provider: The A/R Relationship flag should be set to A/R Service when the company using Transportation Manager is providing a related service. In this case, EU value added tax is levied at the rate for the country in which the company using Transportation Manager is registered.
