Transfer Selected Tariff Lane - Fields

Transfer Options

Fields in this section direct the handling of lanes and related data selected for transfer.

  • Action: Defines the behavior of the transfer as one of the following:
    • Duplicate: Selected lanes and associated data are copied to the target tariff.
    • Move: Selected lanes and associated data are copied to the target tariff and then removed from the source tariff.
    • Notes:

      • Move is not allowed if the selected lane belongs to a source tariff that is referenced by at least one other tariff (that is, the source tariff is a master tariff).
      • If an error occurs while transferring a selected lane or subordinate object, nothing for that lane will be transferred.
      • In general, if a target object (such as lane) is found to have the same identifying elements as the source object, the target object is updated with values from the source object. An exception applies to the handling of Rate Codes and the selection of a specific target service (if set). When the applicable option is Transfer Missing , target objects found to match the source object are not updated.
      • Additional exception applies to lane restrictions. In the case where a matched target lane defines a lane restriction and the source lane also defines a restriction, the target lane restriction will be replaced by the source lane restriction. In the case where a target lane defines a restriction and the source lane has no restriction, the target lane restrictions will be preserved.
      • If rates are included in a Move action and a rate is found to also be associated with a source tariff lane that was not selected into the operation, the rate will be copied from the source tariff, but not removed. This behavior preserves the integrity of the lane(s) not transferred.
  • Target Tariff Number: The existing tariff to which you want to transfer the data.
  • Target Tariff Description: Displays the description attached to the selected Target Tariff Number.
  • Target Service ID: Use this field to transfer selected lanes to a specific service under the target tariff. The field is available only when accessed from a lane list auto-filtered on a single service such as the List of Lanes for Tariff Service.

    Notes:

    • When accessed from a list of lanes supporting the display of multiple services (such as the List of Lanes for Tariff), the field will be blank and read-only; the selected lane service will be applied during transfer.
    • During transfer, if a source lane specifies no service and Target Service ID is populated, the operation will first attempt to match the source lane to a target tariff lane having the Target Service ID and link transferred objects to that lane. If a match is not found, an attempt is made to match with a target tariff lane having no service and link transferred objects to that lane. If a new lane is created for the target tariff, it is assigned the Target Service ID.
  • Target Lanes: Specifies the handling of tariff lanes selected into the operation. The following options are available:
    • Do Not Transfer: Selected tariff lanes are not transferred. Use this option to transfer rates associated with selected lanes, but not selected lanes, lane restrictions and dock selection constraints.
    • Note: This option cannot be selected when the Action is Move.

    • Transfer Selected: All selected tariff lanes are transferred. Matched existing lanes are updated from the selected lane.
    • Transfer Missing: Only selected lanes that do not already exist for the target tariff are transferred.
  • Lane Restrictions: Specifies the handling of tariff lane restriction data associated with lanes selected into the operation. The following options are available:
    • Do Not Transfer: Lane restrictions are not transferred under any circumstances.
    • Note: This option cannot be selected when the Action is Move.

    • Based on Lane Transfers: Lane restrictions are handled based on the setting of Target Lanes.
    • Note: When Target Lanes is Transfer Selected, lane restrictions are transferred if the selected lane is transferred. This may result in the update of lane restrictions associated with matched lanes in the target. When Transfer Missing, lane restrictions are transferred if the selected lane is transferred or a matching target lane exists but has no lane restrictions.

  • Dock Selection Constraints: Specifies the handling of dock selection constraint data associated to lanes selected into the operation. The following options are available:
    • Do Not Transfer: Dock selection constraints are not transferred under any circumstances.
    • Note: This option cannot be selected when the Action is Move.

    • Based on Lane Transfers: Dock selection constraints are handled based on the setting of Target Lanes.
    • Note: When Target Lanes is Transfer Selected, dock selection constraints are transferred if the selected lane is transferred. This may result in the update of existing dock selection constraints. When Target Lanes is Transfer Missing, dock selection constraints are transferred if the selected lane is transferred or the target lane exists and has missing dock selection constraints (only constraints that do not exist for the target tariff lane are transferred).

  • Lane Constraints: Specifies the handling of lane constraint data associated to lanes selected into the operation. The following options are available:
    • Do Not Transfer: Lane constraints are not transferred under any circumstances.
    • Note: This option cannot be selected when the Action is Move.

    • Based on Lane Transfers: Lane constraints are handled based on the setting of Target Lanes.
    • Note: When Target Lanes is Transfer Selected, lane constraints are transferred if the selected lane is transferred. This may result in the update of existing lane constraints when there is an exact match or the insertion of lane constraints otherwise. Measures are taken to eliminate start/end date overlaps if specified, and this may result in both the insertion of new lane constraints and the update of existing, or replacement of existing lane constraints when there is a complete overlap. When Target Lanes is Transfer Missing, lane constraints are transferred if the selected lane is transferred or the target lane exists and has missing lane constraints (that is, only constraints that do not exist for the target tariff lane are transferred). Measures are taken to eliminate start/end date overlaps with existing lane constraints on the target lane if specified, and this may result in a date range adjustment to the inserted record only.

  • Rates: Specifies the handling or rates associated to lanes selected into the operation. The following options are available:
    • Do Not Transfer: Rates are not transferred under any circumstances.
    • Note: This option cannot be selected when the Action is Move or Target Lanes is Do Not Transfer.

    • Transfer Selected: All tariff rates associated to selected lanes are transferred. This setting may be used to transfer rates for selected lanes that already exist—even if the lane itself is not transferred (that is Target Lanes is Transfer Missing). Rates may be replaced when a match exists.
    • Based on Lane Transfers: Tariff rates are handled based on the setting of Target Lanes.
    • Note: When Target Lanes is Transfer Selected, all rates are transferred only if the selected lane is transferred. When Target Lanes is Transfer Missing, rates are transferred if the selected lane is transferred and there is no matching rate in the target tariff, or the target lane exists and has no matching rate. This option is invalid when Target Lanes is Do Not Transfer.

  • Surcharges/Discounts: Specifies the handling of surcharge/discount data associated to rates having lanes selected into the operation. Transfer includes surcharges/discounts that apply to customer surcharge invoicing. The following options are available:
    • Do Not Transfer: Surcharges/Discounts are not transferred under any circumstances.
    • Note: This option cannot be selected when the Action is Move.

    • Based on Rate Transfers: Surcharges/Discounts are handled based on the setting of Rates.
    • Note: When Rates is Do Not Transfer, surcharge/discount data is not transferred. When Rates is Transfer Selected, surcharges/discounts linked to the rate are transferred if the associated rate is transferred. When Rates is Based on Lane Transfers, surcharges/discounts linked to the rate are handled only if the rate is transferred.

    Notes:

    • Rate-level surcharges/discounts are transferred only when a tariff charge has been enabled on the target tariff that refers to the Service ID and Charge ID corresponding to values associated with the surcharge/discount entry from the source tariff. Service and Charge level surcharges/discounts are not transferred by this operation.
    • Surcharges/Discounts are transferred only when a corresponding tariff rate table entry exists for the target tariff or, if the target tariff is a referential tariff, a tariff rate table entry exists for the master tariff for the target tariff.

Notes:

  • Do Not Transfer cannot be set for any option when the Action is Move. You must choose another available option even if the source tariff lane has no related objects to move.
  • The Target Lanes and Rates fields cannot both be set to Do Not Transfer as this would indicate nothing is to be transferred. Similarly, the Rates field cannot be Based on Lane Transfers when Target Lanes is set to Do Not Transfer for the same reason.
  • Under the Transfer Selected option, target tariff objects found to have the same identifying elements as the source tariff object will be updated with values from the source tariff object.
  • To transfer from one service to another (either within the same or different tariff), run the operation from the List of Lanes for Tariff Service where the Target Service ID field is active. If lanes for multiple services must be transferred, the operation will have to be performed separately for each source tariff service combination.
