Transferring between tariffs having different currencies

Rates may be transferred between tariffs using different currencies. However, the result of the transfer must be the same currency across rates. The following examples illustrate this behavior.

Example 1: When transfer with different currencies is allowed

In example #1, rates transferred from the selected source tariff lane completely replace target tariff rates because of overlapping (or undefined) effective/expiry values. The result shows all rates expressed in USD. Note the effective/expiry date adjustment made to the resulting FSC1 rate. Because the source tariff rate starts earlier and ends later than the effective/expiry of the target tariff, both values are adjusted to fit. Both original rates on the target tariff are replaced by the single source tariff rate because the one source tariff rate effective/expiry range spans both original target tariff rates. Assuming no other validation errors, this transfer will succeed.

In example #2, rates transferred from the selected source tariff lane do not completely replace target tariff rates. In this case, the effective/expiry date of the source tariff FSC1 rate fits fully within the target tariff effective/expiry period, but only partially overlaps existing rate effective/expiry date ranges. The existing target tariff rate dates are adjusted to accommodate the effective/expiry of the transferred rate, but are not replaced. Because the result includes a mixture of rates expressed in USD and CAD currencies, this transfer will fail.
