Customize Layout
This section describes the layout and capabilities of the Customize Layout dialog box. The Customize Layout operation is displayed on the right-hand side of individual properties page section headers. Selecting this operation displays one of two modal dialog boxes depending on whether the section presents itself as a form or a grid (that is, customizable list).
If the section displaying this operation is a list-based layout, you are presented with the Grid Layout dialog box. This dialog box is very similar to the Grid Customization dialog box for Customize entity view. Here you can select columns for display, order columns across the list define the order in which rows are listed, the display width of each column and freeze columns in the list.
If the section displaying this operation is a form-based layout, you are presented with the Form Customization dialog box. This dialog box provides a list of section fields, controls to manage the number of columns to display per row and margin width (vertical and horizontal white space in the section).
When customization is complete, click Save to close the dialog box and save layout customizations. The current open Properties page and future instances of properties pages for this entity will reflect the adjustments.
Alternatively, click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving.
To configure form-based section fields for display
- Click on the Settings icon in the header of the section you want to customize. The Form Customization dialog is displayed. The Available list shows fields that are currently hidden; the Selected list shows fields that are currently visible as well as the order they will be presented.
- Hide currently displayed fields by removing them from the Selected list. Select the desired items and use the < (Deselect) operation, or drag-and-drop them into the Available list.
- Show currently hidden fields by adding them to the Selected list. Select the desired items and use the > (Select) operation, or drag-and-drop them into the Selected list.
- The order in which fields are listed in the Selected list is the sequence they will appear within the page section. Reorder fields in the section using drag-and-drop, or by using the sequencing operation icons to the right of the list.
Note: Fields cannot be moved from one section to another.
To adjust the number of columns per row
select a value using the control associated with the Number of Frozen Fields label.
Notes:
- This adjustment does not change the size of the properties page when it is opened.
- If the number of columns per row is set high, you may be required to scroll horizontally in order to see values in the right-most fields.
To adjust margins for a section
Adjust the slider left (minimum is 0) or right (maximum is 20) to the desired size. This setting controls the amount of white space around form fields.
To restore form customizations to system default configuration
Click Reset Layout to Defaults at the bottom of the customize layout dialog box. This will set the section layout to the system default configuration.
Note: Once this option is selected and saved, the previous configuration is lost.
