Assign partial shipment to load in Transportation Smartbench

This page allows you to manually split a shipment and assign a leg for the new shipment to an eligible load. The operation is triggered by selecting a specific shipment leg. This shipment leg could already be attached to a load. The origin and destination for the shipment leg for the newly created shipment (i.e. the leg being attached to the designated load) will correspond to the locations for the selected shipment leg. From this page, you can or must do the following:

  • Define the Shipment ID and Shipment Tracking Number for the new shipment resulting from the split operation.
  • Conditionally assign the Split Shipment ID. This will be assigned to both the source and target shipments. This ID can be used to group all of the split shipments that originated from the same shipment (e.g. via Cascade in Transportation Smartbench).
  • Specify the quantity or percentage of each shipment detail that will be moved to the new shipment.
  • Specify the target load for the operation. You can use a Load Search to identify candidate loads.

The requirements for this operation are mostly the same as the Split Shipment operation for shipments. See Split shipment in Transportation Smartbench. For this operation:

  • A maximum of one of the legs for the source shipment can be attached to a load. If the shipment has multiple legs, none of the other shipment legs can be assigned to a load or manifest. To contrast, the Split Shipment operation does not allow any of the shipment’s legs to the attached to a load or manifest.
  • If the selected shipment leg is assigned to a load, the following conditions must be satisfied:
  • The associated load must be eligible for shipment update.
  • The shipment leg is not confirmed for pickup, or delivered.
