Asset fields
Carrier
- Carrier ID: ID of the carrier to which this asset belongs. It is mandatory to associate an asset with the carrier. Cannot be modified after the asset is created. When a tractor asset type is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the tractor owner for the load; when a trailer asset type is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the trailer owner for the load.
- Carrier Name: Name of the carrier to which this asset belongs. Auto-populated from Carrier ID selection.
Asset
-
Asset Type: Indicates the type of asset. Only active asset types are available for selection. Cannot be modified after the asset is created. See List of Asset Types (Employee).
-
Asset ID: A unique identifier for the asset. Must be unique across all carriers. Cannot be modified after the asset is created.
-
Linked TM Login User ID: ID of the TM user associated with an asset. When specified, this asset can directly login to TM as a carrier type user. The same value cannot be given to multiple assets.
Note: The ability to set this field for an asset is managed by asset type properties.
-
Asset Name: Name of the asset. Assets linked to a TM Login User ID will have this field auto-populated from the User profile. For non-driver assets, this may be the asset's identification number. When a driver, tractor or trailer asset is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the asset name on the load; when a trailer asset is assigned to a load, this value is also used to populate the trailer number for the load.
- Status: Indicates whether the asset is currently active, inactive or on hold. Inactive assets are not considered when suggesting asset candidates for a movement while held assets are considered but may raise a status violation.
-
Department of Transportation Identifier: DOT identifier of the asset.
-
License Number: License number of the asset; when a driver asset type is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the driver license number on the load; when a tractor asset type is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the tractor license number for the load; when a trailer asset type is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the trailer license number for the load; since this is a text field it could also be used to capture issuing jurisdiction (e.g. country, province/state) or other meaningful information.
-
Performance Grade: Specifies the asset performance grade (0 to 100) that can be used when sorting a list of candidate assets for a load; this could be populated using data extracted from another data source, or manually assigned.
-
Asset Pool: The pool to which this asset belongs.
-
Expiration Date: Expiration date for the asset. For example, the end date of the asset's contract, license or insurance. An asset can only be assigned to a load/trip when this date is at least x days after the load/trip’s scheduled end date, where x is configurable in global settings.
-
Tractor Number: This field may indicate the tractor identification number for a tractor asset, or a driver asset in an owner/operator scenario. When a tractor asset type is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the tractor number on the load. When a driver asset type is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the tractor number for the load if no tractor asset is currently assigned.
-
Tractor Owner: If a driver asset owns a tractor, this will refer to the tractor carrier owner. When a driver asset is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate tractor owner for the load if no tractor asset is currently assigned.
-
Tractor License Number: License number of the tractor in case the asset uses a specific tractor; when a asset is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the tractor license number on the load. If a driver asset type owns a tractor, this field may indicate the license number of the tractor. When a driver asset type is assigned to a load, this value will be used to populate the tractor license number for the load if no tractor asset is currently assigned.
-
Cost Center: Cost center used when generating A/P vouchers and G/L transactions based on the activity for this asset; if not defined, cost center from the carrier is considered.
-
Return Type: Indicates how asset assignment end locations are set on assignments associated to a load or trip. Immediate returns will set the asset assignment end locations to the load's domicile (if defined) or first stop location; other return types will set the asset assignment end location to the last load-stop.
-
Equipment Type ID: Identifies an asset as being of a specific equipment type. This may be used to assist planners in assessing the appropriateness of an asset candidate for assignment by visual comparison to target load or trip properties. The value set here is not used in assignment validations (i.e., will not result in an assignment violation).
-
Minimum Hours Between Usage: Indicates the minimum duration that must elapse after the completion of an asset assignment before this asset may be used again. This field may be used to model standard asset cleaning, inspection or other activity not associated with a movement. Assignments indicated to start before this duration is reached (compared to previous assignment end date/time) will result in a time overlap violation.
-
Shared: When set, this asset may be used on assignments planned for any carrier. The Asset Candidates function includes shared assets regardless of load or trip carrier.
- Domicile ID: The ID of the domicile considered as this Asset’s 'home base'. It may be used in combination with vehicle ID and equipment type ID to align an asset with domicile vehicle availability data.
- Vehicle ID: Free text. When used in combination with domicile ID and equipment type ID, may be used to align this asset with domicile vehicle availability data.
Note: If tractor assets are defined for assignment, this field need not be populated on driver assets. See Carrier ID.
Note: If tractor assets will be defined for assignment, this field need not be populated on driver assets. See Asset License Number.
Address
Address: Address for assets are maintained using the Work with Address (Customer/Employee)page that can be accessed using the Work with Address () icon.
Note: If Domicile ID is populated, Address cannot be modified.

Contact Information: Contact information for the asset level is auto-populated from the contact information of the associated Linked TM Login User ID (if populated); values here must match the TM User Profile. This information is editable in Update mode for asset types configured to allow contact information.
