List of Incoterms Locations (Employee)

In Transportation Manager, the Incoterms shipping location for a shipment defines the point where the responsibility for transportation costs shifts from the seller to the buyer.

The Incoterms Locations entity can be used to establish a default value for the Incoterms shipping location when any of the following events occur:

  • Shipment is created or modified
  • Shipment leg is split manually or by the Optimizer
  • Shipment leg is deleted or shipment itinerary is collapsed

If an Incoterms ID is provided for a shipment, a Default Incoterms Shipping LocationType value is assigned to the shipment . Default Incoterms Shipping LocationType supports the following values:

  • Destination Port Location
  • Origin Port Location
  • Shipment Destination Location
  • Shipment Origin Location

The Incoterms Locations entity allows Default Incoterms Shipping Location Type to be defined for a unique combination of the following shipment attributes:

  • Division
  • Customer ID
  • Incoterms ID
  • Incoterms Version
  • Buyer / Seller Designation (optional)
  • Origin Shipping Location ID and Type (optional)
  • Destination Shipping Location ID and Type (optional)

If Incoterms ID is specified when a shipment is created, TM identifies a value for the Default Incoterms Shipping Location Type field. TM considers Incoterms locations where all non-blank values match the corresponding shipment values. Since some values for the Incoterms locations are optional, there may be more than one matching entry. If more than one matching entry is identified for the applicable division, customer, Incoterms ID and Incoterms version, the precision priority is based on the following table:

For example:

An Incoterms location that provides information on all the mentioned shipment attributes is assigned the highest priority 1. If this combination of shipment attributes does not match with the current shipment, the Incoterms location is not considered, and the next suitable match is identified based on the precision priority.

If there are no matching entries for the shipment in the Incoterms Location table, Default Incoterms Shipping Location Type from the applicable entry in the Incoterms table is used.

When Default Incoterms Shipping Location Type is identified for a shipment, it is used to select a default value for the Incoterms shipping location if the Incoterms Commit check box is not selected for the shipment:

  • If Default Incoterms Shipping Location Type for the shipment is Origin Shipping Location, the Incoterms shipping location is set to the origin shipping location.
  • If Default Incoterms Shipping Location Type for the shipment is Origin Port Location, the following scenarios are possible:
    • If the shipment has no through points (that is, one shipment leg), the Incoterms shipping location is set to the origin shipping location.
    • If the shipment has one or more through points (that is, two or more shipment legs), the following scenarios are possible:
      • If the Enable Incoterms Location check box is selected for shipping locations on the shipment’s itinerary, the first shipping location with Enable Incoterms Location selected is set as. Incoterms shipping location
      • If the Enable Incoterms Location check box is not selected for shipping locations on the shipment’s itinerary, the shipment’s origin location is set as the Incoterms shipping location.
  • If Default Incoterms Shipping Location Type of the shipment is Destination Shipping Location, the Incoterms shipping location is set to the destination shipping location.
  • If Default Incoterms Shipping Location Type of the shipment is Destination Port Location, the following scenarios are possible:
    • If the shipment has no through points (that is, one shipment leg), the Incoterms shipping location is set to the destination shipping location.
    • If the shipment has one or more through points (that is. two or more shipment legs), the following scenarios are possible:
      • If the Enable Incoterms Location check box is selected for shipping locations on the shipment’s itinerary, the last shipping location with Enable Incoterms Location selected is set as. Incoterms shipping location
      • If the Enable Incoterms Location check box is not selected for shipping locations on the shipment’s itinerary, the shipment’s destination location is set as the Incoterms shipping location.
