List of Range Codes (Employee)

Many tariffs contain rates that differ depending on unit breaks.

For example: If charges are based on weight, one rate may apply for freight under 500 lbs., another rate for freight from 501 to 999 lbs., and yet another rate for freight over 1000 lbs.

In Transportation Manager you can create sets of unit ranges which can then be shared by multiple tariffs. When rating is performed, the look-up units named for the tariff charge will be used to identify the appropriate range.

The type of charge for the selected range code may be:

  • Flat Rate – The rate will be assigned as the charge amount.
  • Per Unit Rate – The charge amount will be computed as the rate multiplied by the applicable number of rating units.
  • Percentage – The charge amount is computed as a percentage of the applicable number of rating units. Percentage is often used with rating units equal to Freight Amount, allowing a charge to be computed as a percentage of another charge for the same tariff / service combination.

The Clipped flag will allow lower rates for a range break to be applied only to the quantity in excess of the previous range break. Clipping cannot be activated for the first range break for a Range Code. Clipping is not compatible with Look Ahead / Look Back.
