Location Based Security
Location Based Security is implemented at User Group level.
In TM Web, Location Based Security is forced in these TM Web modules only: System Entities, Shipping Locations, Load Build, Load Processing, Shipment Processing, Shipment Confirmation and Dock Scheduling.
This type of security means that users restricted to only certain locations will only get access to viewing Shipping Locations, Location Throughput Groups, Loads, Shipments, Shipment Legs, Stops or Dock Commitments that have at least one 'authorized' location when accessing selected functions in these seven modules.
A user group will have one of the following types of access for applicable functions:
- Unrestricted access to transactions
- Access restricted only to those transactions related to the Shipping Locations for which the user group is authorized.
Setting of this type of authority at User Group level employs a list of 'authorized' Shipping Locations. A User Group with 'authorized' Shipping Locations defined will be automatically marked as 'restricted'.
In the Transportation Smartbench, Location Based Security is enforced at the operation level for supported entity types which reference Shipping Locations. In short, users are always allowed to 'view' objects referencing an unauthorized Shipping Location but will not be allowed to act on them. In cases where more than one location is referenced, such as loads, shipment legs and shipments, users must be authorized to at least one of these to execute an update operation.
