Map view operations

The following operations are provided in the title bar of the map view:

  • Pin : Prevents the view from being the target of subsequent operation requests. When a view is ‘pinned’, the pushpin imageis displayed. Use for viewing pages side-by-side.
  • Move Left : Anchors the view to upper left-hand side of the Smartbench frame. View size is not changed by this action.
  • Move Right : Anchors the view to the upper right-hand side of the Smartbench frame. View size is not changed by this action.
  • Minimize : Reduces the view to the title bar only. Use this operation to gain visibility to what’s behind the map view.
  • Restore : Resizes the view to the default height and width and re-anchors the view to either the left or right-had side of the Smartbench frame.
  • Refresh : Re-queries the object from the database and re-paints the view to display the latest object properties. This option may be required when a map view is currently open to an object that is updated from an entity view operation, since map views do not auto-refresh as a result of entity view operations.
  • Settings : Displays the Map Settings dialog box where the overall layout of a map view can be altered. For more information, see Map Settings.
  • Help : Displays the OnLine Expert for the Transportation Smartbench in a separate window.
  • Close : Closes the view.

The following operations are available in the map graphic portion of the map view:

Note: Street-level route lines displayed on the map do not factor in road-equipment restrictions and may not be valid driving directions.

  • Pan: Allows panning of the map display in up, down, left and right directions. The panning control is located in the upper left-hand side of the map display area. Panning can also be accomplished by clicking on an area of the map and dragging across the view. When released, the map view is re-drawn.
  • Zoom: Performs zoom in and zoom out behaviors. Located just below the pan control on the left-hand side of the map view, this control depicts the current zoom level as a slider bar. Clicking at the top of the slider will zoom in one level. Clicking at the bottom of the slider will zoom out one level. Alternatively, zoom more than one level by dragging the slider up or down, or by clicking at a point somewhere between slider bar endpoints.
  • Map style: Toggles the map viewing style from an atlas view (default) to a satellite view.
  • Location Info: When stops are rendered on the map, each is displayed as a location-type specific marker (Consignee , Hub/DC (cross-dock) , Load-At ).
  • When last reported locations are rendered on the map, each is displayed as a solid-colored marker ().

For assets, when the last reported location matches with the assets home address, each is displayed as a solid colored marker with a special inlay ().

When users opt to display all reported locations in the map view, eligible reported locations preceding the last reported location rendered as small circles ().

Settling the mouse pointer over a marker presents minimal identifying information. When you click on a marker, a balloon window opens in the map view to display some details about objects related to that marker.

Notes:

  • Space constraints limit mouse-over and pop-up information to the first three objects rendered for stop and last reported location markers.
  • Stop location markers remain partially visible behind last reported location markers in cases where both have the same latitude/longitude (e.g., last reported activity is an actual pick-up or delivery).
  • Reported location markers are color-coordinated to match the color of its associated route line.
