Charge Overrides (Employee)
Use this page to assign charge overrides for any of the following entities:
- Load (Load and Locations tabs)
- Shipment (Transaction and Locations tabs)
- Shipment Leg (Transaction and Locations tabs)
- Non-Operational Freight
Each charge override refers to a master condition/option where one or both of the following are true:
- Unit Type is Manually Input (if so, a non-zero value can be provided for Input Rating Units)
- Charge is an Option (if so, a value can be defined for Apply A/R Option and/or Apply A/P Option or for Apply Dock Selection Constraint)
Charge overrides can be used to impact the results of routing, rating and scheduling (or routing and rating only, if applicable) and dock scheduling:
- Input Rating Units can be used to capture quantities for which formal totals are not maintained in Transportation Manager (for example, gallons/liters, domestic vs. international distance, labor hours). These numeric values can be used as both rating units and look-up units.
- Options with Option Utilization of Tariff Service Selection can be used to indicate that an additional service is required (for example, insurance, special handling, 9:00 am delivery, inside mall delivery).
- Options with Option Utilization of Dock Selection can be used to constrain the dock selection process (for example, choose a dock that is only to be used for a specific type of product).
The Data Accumulation Level for the master condition/option dictates how the charge override is maintained and used:
- If the Data Accumulation Level is Transaction or Container, charge overrides apply to the entire transaction. These charge overrides must be edited from the Load tab (for loads) or Transaction tab (for shipments and shipment legs).
- If the Data Accumulation Level is Pick Location, Drop Location, or Pick and Drop Location (that is, any value other than Transaction or Container), charge overrides correspond to a specific location for the transaction (that is, origin or destination for a shipment or shipment leg; stop for a load). These charge overrides must be edited from the Locations tab (same name used for loads, shipments and shipment legs). You must indicate the location to be affected (for example, origin or destination for shipments or shipment legs; Stop Sequence Number or location for loads). For NOFs, it is assumed that location level charges will be associated with the first or last stop.
For loads and shipment legs, charge overrides impact A/P rating and dock selection. For shipments and non-operational freight, charge overrides may be applied to impact A/P rating, A/R rating, both A/P and A/R rating or dock selection.
Three charge overrides values for shipments (Apply A/P Option, Input Rating Units and Apply Dock Selection Constraint) cascade to related shipment legs and loads if the Disable Cascading from Shipments flag for the master condition/option has not been activated. Charge overrides applied for shipment legs cascade to related loads.
Charge Overrides for conditions or options where the Unit Type for the applicable master condition/option is Input Rating Units can only be maintained from the Transaction or Load tabs since these can be provided only for master conditions/options where the Data Accumulation Level is Transaction.
Charge Overrides for options where Option Utilization is Dock Selection Only can only be maintained from the Location tabs (i.e. only for master options where the Data Accumulation Level is Pick Location, Drop Location, or Pick and Drop Location).
Access charge overrides
Charge overrides cannot be defined at the trip or booking level. If required, they must be associated with one of the loads attached to the trip or booking.
Charge overrides remain editable as long as the applicable entity remains eligible for routing, rating, and scheduling (or routing and rating). For shipments and non-operational freight transactions, the rules for accessing the individual columns can differ:
Shipments
The Apply A/R Option column remains editable while the shipment is in a status that would make it eligible for A/R routing and rating. If the Disable Cascading from Shipments flag for the master condition/option is not enabled, the Apply A/P Option, Apply Dock Selection Constraint, and Input Rating Units remain editable only while all legs for the shipment (or corresponding loads) remain eligible for A/P routing, rating, and scheduling. Otherwise, Input Rating Units remain editable while the shipment is in a status that would make it eligible for A/R routing and rating while the Apply A/P Option and Apply Dock Selection Constraint flags are never editable.
Non-operational freight (NOF) transactions
The Apply A/R Option column remains editable while the NOF is in a status that would make it eligible for A/R routing and rating. The Apply A/P Option and Input Rating Units remain editable only while the NOF remains eligible for A/P routing and rating. Apply Dock Selection Constraint is not editable for NOFs.
Charge overrides can only be modified by employees.
Charge overrides for shipment legs cannot be edited if the shipment leg is attached to a load or manifest.
Charge overrides for shipment legs and loads cannot be edited while re-planning (optimization) is active for those entities.
